"Things are rough all over." ~ Cherry Valance, pg. 35
After Ponyboy tells Cherry about the time Johnny was beaten up by the Socs, Cherry responds by saying:
"I'll bet you think the Socs have it made. The rich kids, the West-side Socs. I'll tell you something, Ponyboy, and it may come as a suprise. We have troubles you've never heard of. You want to know something? Things are rough all over." pg 35
Ponyboy later says, "Things were rough all over all right. All over the East Side." pg 43
